To get a cooperative off the ground, time, more than anything, needs to be invested in the formulating and launching of the co-op. Potential members need to be found and brought on board, websites and social media need to be developed, licenses and permits need to be obtained, articles of incorporation need to be filed, (etc. etc. etc.). It’s similar to forming any new business, only nobody should have to quit their day jobs in order to put in the time and energy to launch a Cooperative.
Potential co-op member-owners have families, careers, and obligations that make it difficult for them to develop the groundwork. While ultimately they will have a say in the direction of the cooperative, the basic pre-launch duties can be handled by F-Di-M’s street team to ensure the cooperative will be ready to hit the ground running when it launches.
F-Di-M will engage in a 90 day relationship with the Cooperative to ensure it meets all the formal technicalities for becoming a legal entity, as well as work with organizers in the planning of the cooperative bylaws, organizing charter meetings, facilitate access to professional legal and financial service providers (and/or help evaluate potential service providers), and member recruitment.
Think Hollywood Blockbusters!
Think of it like a big Hollywood movie production. Potential member-owners are the producers, directors, studio executives that have the vision and final say in the movie. F-Di-M and the street team would be the set constructors, sound and lighting crew, costume designers, and caterers that keep the production efficient while the producer/director/studio execs focus on the direction or big picture of the project.
What would happen if during the production of Jurassic Park, Steven Spielberg, on top of his directorial duties, had to; construct the film set, cater the food, pick out the costumes, and create realistic dinosaurs using CGI, along with all the intricate duties of the crew? And if he wasn’t doing all those crew duties himself, how would he supervise all those people who were? Odds are it would have taken a lot longer to finish (if ever got finished) and would not have been the blockbuster it was. That is, both quality and efficiency are negatively impacted.
F-Di-M’s street team can be the “boots on the ground” that handles the imperative, but time consuming, tasks in order to most efficiently launch a Cooperative. Click here for Street Team Services.
